Hi, my name is Anna!
My parents Mike & Sue were a part of the original families when IAFQ initially formed some 30+ years ago. Now, as an adult adoptee, I am honoured to be involved with our beautiful extended IAFQ family. I have had a tough but amazing adoption journey and strive to make every opportunity count. It is a privilege for me to advocate and support my fellow adoptees and their families here in Brisbane.
The incredible care and encouragement my family and I have experienced and witnessed throughout the history of IAFQ has motivated my husband, Mark, and I to keep involved. I have had the immense joy and privilege of initiating a Kids & Teens connection group called MOVE ‘n’ SHAKE. During school holidays I facilitate various events and workshops to provide opportunities for young people impacted by adoption and foster care to be empowered and encouraged through safe and authentic connections, all within fun environments to help normalise the adoption experiences. In past years we have had a ball learning Ethiopian cultural dances as well as hip-hop dance style. Even slowed the vibe in yoga sessions and bonded at indoor skate parks.
So I am proud to be involved with the IAFQ community and hope we can all continue to support one another. Feel welcome to contact me at iafqlighthouse@gmail.com.
