Country Groups » Thai Support Group of Queensland (TSGP)

Our aims are varied however a central goal is to provide support to adoption applicants who wish to adopt from Thailand.  We also aim to provide adoptive families with:

  • Opportunities to share in culturally appropriate activities;
  • Friendship;
  • Support to parents with new arrivals; and
  • Support to established families

Through shared experiences and friendship we hope to contribute to the quality of life of adoptive family members and their extended families.

We actively support the maintenance of our children’s Thai culture and celebrate Thailand’s special days, e.g. Songkran, Loy Krathong, King’s birthday with the Thai community in Queensland.   We also participate in Thailand’s Nativeland Program which is an initiative of the Thai Government.  The main objective of the program is to provide an opportunity for adopted Thai children living abroad to revisit their homeland and gain some knowledge of Thai culture, classical arts, temples, ancient places and Thai people.   Generally, the program includes an audience with a member of the Royal Family.  Nativeland is held every four years.

A special event on our calendar is our annual weekend retreat - this is a time when we come together from all over Queensland.  Our children get to spend quality time with each other and form friendships.

A newsletter detailing current events in the social calendar and topical information for our group is sent to members once a month via email.
